Coppermine is a free, open source online photo gallery that has a variety of features and is compatible with all major browsers including Firefox, Internet Explorer, Opera and Safari. Coppermine was written using the popular and widely supported PHP scripting language and it used ImageMagick as a library with MySQL as the database.

Users in Coppermine can arrange pictures in categories and albums. All photo information is stored in a web based database.

Coppermine offers users full support of popular multimedia formats, the creation of small pictures for use as thumbnails and photo resizing perfect for email or message forum postings. Coppermine also offers users a comprehensive search function, making it easy to find one particular photo of the thousands that can be uploaded.

Photos can be sorted by last added and visitors can explore the photos on the site by using the random picture feature. Coppemine has multilanguage support, a fully customizable web template feature, a multiple picture upload system, an online help system, an e-card maker an a slideshow viewer.

Coppermine administrators can approve uploads before photos go live. Administrators can also set up multiple groups and assign users to more than one interest group, including private and hidden groups.
